Overview

Responsible for managing an assigned account base while representing the client.  Primary responsibilities include increasing sales and market share of the brands represented, developing relationships with buyers and category managers, and achieving performance objectives as assigned.

Responsibilities

Account Manager Functions – Meeting and exceeding the client's objectives, plans, and priorities, effectively using knowledge of accounts, market, and client to successfully sell client-specific programs and initiatives.

  • Execute sales calls within a designated account base to sell business plans, programs, and concepts that improve long-term business results.
  • Deliver client’s volume, share, and fundamental goals (Distribution, Shelving, Pricing, and Promotions)
  • Develop and leverage relationships with key influencers and decision-makers with assigned accounts and client.
  • Provide a high level of financial stewardship.
  • Maintain business critical reports and processes: Product distribution list, cost, and trade fund files, promotional plans, etc.
  • Represent the client during category reviews acting as champion for client products/brands.
  • Provide timely information on product and price changes to accounts.
  • Assume Subject Matter Expert (SME) role for assigned brands/processes and share across the team.

 

General Responsibilities -

  • Follows sales call standards and effectively orchestrates a call overage plan that meets the business needs of the client and accounts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of information provided by the client and customer.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the client’s products and policies.
  • Maintain required documentation in an accurate and timely manner using established systems.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with internal/external customers, team members, and department contacts.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be exposed mainly to an indoor office environment and will be expected to work near or around computers, telephones, and printers.
  • The nature of the work in this position is sedentary and the incumbent will be sitting most of the time.
  • Essential physical functions of the job include typing, grasping, pulling hand over hand, and repetitive motions to utilize general computer software/hardware continuously throughout the workday.
  • Essential mental functions of this position include concentrating on tasks, reading information, and verbal/written communication to others continuously throughout the workday.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of six months of relevant experience in retail, sales, finance, or marketing, preferably in the CPG industry
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, presentation, and client relations skills
  • Takes initiative, can solve complex problems, and uses critical thinking.
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing information to make effective sales presentations.
  • Growth mindset with a willingness to learn, share, and reapply.
  • At a minimum, proficient in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and web-based applications
  • Willingness to travel (infrequently)

 

Educations:

  • Must be 18 or older and have a High School education or GED.

 

Experience:

  • History of exceeding objectives (results-oriented)
  • Solving complex problems
  • Demonstrated history of building cross-functional relationships
  • Minimum 6+ months prior experience working remotely preferred.

 

Other: Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
